EME Communications

...Recently, telephone communications in the VHF band and above (54-1200MHz band), mainly using telephones installed in automobiles, have become popular. Since 1961, communication satellites for amateur radio have been launched and satellite communications have been carried out. In addition, various types of communications are carried out, such as EME (short for earth to moon to earth) communications using the reflection from the moon, television (including SSTV (short for slow scan television)), radio teletype, facsimile, etc. Repeater communications between low-power portable transmitters and receivers via automatic repeaters installed on tall buildings and mountaintops began in Japan in 1982.
