A university in Jena, Germany. Founded in 1558. In the 18th and 19th centuries, leading German thinkers and writers such as Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Goethe, and Schiller were active here. After World War II, it became part of East Germany and was renamed Friedrich Schiller University. As of 2013, it has 10 faculties, including Theology, Law, Medicine, Philosophy, and Economics.
