Iizuka Igashichi

...In the field of medicine, Hara Nanyo and Honma Gencho came from the Mito domain, Tsuji Motojun and Yasumura Echi came from the Tsuchiura domain, and Hirose Shuhaku, a physician from the Yatabe domain, wrote Zue Ransetsu Sansai Sekikan, which he published as an outline of research in astronomy, earth science, and medicine. Iizuka Iga Shichi, headman of Yatabe village, singlehandedly invented wooden Japanese clocks, surveying instruments, threshing machines, and other equipment, earning him the nickname Karakuri Iga Shichi.
