Safety device

A device that is attached to machines, tools, and other equipment to ensure work safety and prevent damage to the machine or equipment, and injury or poisoning to workers. Examples include emergency power stop devices, interlocks, limit switches, elevator safety catches, splitting blades and contact prevention devices for woodworking machine saws, safety valves, water seal safety devices, explosion vents, compressor pressure limiting devices, earth leakage circuit breakers, and automatic overcurrent circuit breakers. Safety fences, protective covers, and other protective devices are also types of safety devices.

機械，器具その他の設備に取付けて作業の安全をはかり，機械，設備などの破損や労働者の傷害，中毒などの危害を防止することを目的とした装置。動力急停止装置，インターロック，リミット・スイッチ，エレベータのセーフティキャッチ，木工用機械のこぎりの割り刃および接触防止装置，安全弁，水封安全器，爆発ベント，コンプレッサの圧力制限装置，漏電遮断装置，過電流自動遮断器などがある。安全のための柵囲い，防護カバーなどの防護装置も安全装置の一種である。
