Angevin Dynasty

Japanese: アンジュー朝 - あんじゅーちょう
Angevin Dynasty

…An English dynasty that ruled over 245 years under eight reigns from Henry II to Richard II. 1154-1399. The name of the dynasty comes from the Latin name of the broom plant, planta genista, which Geoffrey, Count of Anjou, Henry II's father, always wore in his helmet. It is also called the Anjou dynasty. They ruled over almost the entire English Middle Ages, but the reign of Edward I ended in the early 14th century, dividing the dynasty into an early and late period.
[First half]
The House of Plantagenet began with the accession of Henry II (1154-1189) after the civil wars of King Stephen, who gained Anjou, Maine, and Touraine from his father's side, Normandy from his mother's side, and Aquitaine from his queen Eleanor (formerly the wife of Louis VII of France), making him master of the vast Angevin Empire.
