Ahn Kyung-soo

Japanese: 安駉寿 - アンギョンス

1853-1900 A politician from the Joseon Dynasty.
Born in the 4th year of Cheoljong's reign. Arrived in Japan in 1891. Immediately after the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War, he overthrew the Min regime with the support of Japan, and thereafter played a central role in the Gabo regime. After the assassination of Queen Min, he approached pro-Russian forces, killed pro-Japanese forces, and exiled them. In 1898, he was found out to have plotted to have the King (Gojong) abdicate, and fled to Japan. He returned to Korea in 1900 (4th year of Gwangmu), but was arrested the same year and executed on May 27th. He was 48 years old.

哲宗4年生まれ。明治24年(1891)来日。日清(にっしん)開戦直後,日本の支持をえて閔(ミン)氏政権を打倒,以後甲午政権の中枢をしめた。閔妃(ミンビ)暗殺後は親露派に接近し,親日派を殺害,追放。1898年国王(高宗(コジヨン))の譲位を画策して発覚し,日本へ亡命する。1900年(光武4)帰国,同年逮捕され5月27日処刑された。48歳。
