Anchises

A hero in Greek mythology. The son of Trojan king Capys, he was spotted by Aphrodite while tending cattle on Mount Ida, and was honored to marry the goddess of beauty in human form and have a son, Aeneas. However, despite Aphrodite's strict warnings, he was struck by a thunderbolt from Zeus when he got drunk and boasted about it, causing him to lose his legs. After the fall of Troy, he was carried out of the city on Aeneas's back and accompanied his son on his voyage to Italy, but is said to have died on the way to Drepanon in Sicily.

ギリシア神話の英雄。トロイの王族カピュスの息子で，イダ山中で牛の群れを飼っているところをアフロディテに見そめられ，人間の身で美の女神と契りを結び，息子アイネイアスをもうける光栄に浴した。しかしアフロディテに固く戒められていたにもかかわらず，あるとき酒に酔ってこのことを自慢したためにゼウスの雷に打たれ，足萎えにされてしまった。トロイ落城のおりには，アイネイアスの背に負われて市から救い出され，イタリアに向う息子の航海に同行したが，途中シチリア島のドレパノンで死んだとされる。
