Ato Kuwanoichi - Ato Kuwanoichi

Japanese:
Ato Kuwanoichi - Ato Kuwanoichi

An ancient Japanese market. It appears in the "Nihon Shoki" in the entry for the 12th year of Emperor Bidatsu's reign. It is believed that the name was derived from the fact that mulberry trees were planted there, like the camellias in Tsubaiichi and the tachibana trees in Eganoichi. The place name "Ato" existed in Kawachi and Yamato in ancient times, but it would be appropriate to assume that this market was located near present-day Atobe Honmachi, Yao City, Osaka Prefecture, which corresponds to the Atobe district of Shibukawa County, Kawachi Province, as seen in the "Wamyosho." This area is located halfway between the confluence of the Yamato River and the Ishikawa River and Naniwa, and is a key transportation location with many residential areas, including the villa of Omuraji Mononobe no Moriya, making it a suitable location for a city.
