Kingdom of Akkad

...the first Mesopotamian empire, established in the area along the Euphrates River between Sippar and Kish, and according to legend, founded a dynasty with 11 kings and lasting 181 years (c. 2350-c. 2150 BC). This was the Akkadian Kingdom. During this period, Semitic elements and the Akkadian language became dominant in northern Babylonia, and thereafter this area was called Akkad, and the later Babylonian region was called Sumer-Akkad.
