New Covenant - New Contract

… The New Testament originally expressed this covenant as the Greek word diatheke, which means “will,” but it is a translation of the Old Testament word beris and inherited the idea from the Old Testament. However, it teaches that the Old Testament covenant was the “old covenant” (2 Corinthians 3:14), which could not establish a covenant relationship between God and man, and therefore Jesus Christ established the “new covenant.” This is because in the “old covenant,” man is unable to keep the covenant because of sin, but Christ atones for that sin and restores man to a relationship with God. …
