Chemical composition: MgSO 4 ・H 2 O. A monoclinic mineral that occurs in the form of chunks or granules. It is colorless, grayish white, or yellowish white, with a glassy luster. Mohs hardness: 3.5, specific gravity: 2.6. It is difficult to dissolve in water. It loses its water of crystallization at about 350°C.
