…14th Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate. Penname: Kotokuin. First name: Yoshichika. Born in Awa-Hirashima as the eldest son of Yoshitsuna. Also called Hirashima-kubo or Tomita-kubo. In 1565 (Eiroku 8), the Miyoshi Trio, Matsunaga Hisahide and others failed in their attempt to turn Shogun Yoshiteru under his control and assassinated him, but Yoshihide was made the successor to the shogunate. After that, a feud arose between the Trio and Miyoshi Yoshitsugu and Matsunaga Hisahide, but at the request of Miyoshi Nagayasu, the leader of the Trio, he moved to Awaji in 1566, and was supported by Shinohara Nagafusa and entered Settsu Koshimizu Castle (present-day Nishinomiya City). …
