C 34 H 47 NO 11 (645.73). A diterpene alkaloid found in the Aconitum genus of the Ranunculaceae family. A representative ester-type alkaloid among aconite alkaloids. It is highly toxic, exhibits severe neuroparalytic effects, and is one of the most powerful plant toxins. It acts directly on the heart and paralyzes the respiratory system. Columnar crystals. Melting point 204 °C. +17.3° (chloroform). Soluble in chloroform and benzene, slightly soluble in ether and dry ethanol, practically insoluble in water and petroleum ether. It is relatively unstable, and when heated with an alkali, it is rapidly hydrolyzed to deacetylation and debenzoylation to give non-toxic aconine (C 25 H 41 NO 9 , melting point 132 °C). LD 50 0.4 mg/kg (cat, subcutaneous). [CAS 302-27-2] Source: Morikita Publishing "Chemical Dictionary (2nd Edition)" Information about the Chemical Dictionary 2nd Edition |
C34H47NO11(645.73).
