A highway that runs from southern Nagano Prefecture to western Shizuoka Prefecture, to Akiba Shrine in Hamamatsu City. It is part of National Route 152. The road was given this name because many pilgrims passed through it from Kakegawa City in Shizuoka Prefecture north and Iida City in Nagano Prefecture south. On the Shizuoka side, it is called the Shinshu Highway. There is also a road that runs from Makinohara City on the west coast of Suruga Bay to Akiba Shrine, passing through Kikugawa City and Mori Town.
