An annual plant of the grass family (APG classification: Poaceae). It resembles green foxtail grass overall, but the culm can reach up to 1 meter, and has long hairs on the leaf surfaces as well as the edges of the leaf sheaths. The inflorescence is long and slightly drooping at the tip. The second glume is 1/2 to 2/3 the length of the spikelet. It flowers from September to November. It grows on roadsides and forest edges throughout Japan, and is also distributed in China and Vietnam.
