At the end of the 19th century, the actual conditions of colonial management began to be reported in Europe, and it began to become clear how different it was from the pretext of the "spread of civilization." A typical example is the accusation of the cruel "red rubber" practiced in the Belgian Congo, where a company with a monopoly on rubber harvesting imposed collection quotas on local residents and amputated the limbs of those who did not meet the quota. In addition, many rebellions and colonial wars occurred during the process of colonial expansion.
