Streptomyces kanamyceticus

...(chemical formula) In 1957, Hamao Umezawa isolated and named this antibiotic from the culture medium of the actinomycete Streptomyces kanamyceticus found in soil in Nagano Prefecture. It belongs to the same aminoglycoside family as streptomycin. Its Japanese Pharmacopoeia name is kanamycin sulfate C ₁₈ H ₃₆ N ₄ O ₁₁ ･ x H ₂ SO ₄ .
