Tadataka Aoyama

Tadataka Aoyama
1734-1816 A daimyo in the mid-Edo period.
Born on November 5, 1716. The seventh son of Aoyama Yoshihide, lord of Miyazu Domain in Tango (Kyoto Prefecture). He was adopted by his uncle Aoyama Tadatomo, and in 1777 became the 2nd generation lord of the Aoyama clan in Tanba Sasayama Domain (Hyogo Prefecture). He worked to encourage both the arts and martial arts, including founding the domain school Shintokudo. He passed away on August 14, 1816. He was 83 years old. His original name was Masayoshi, and his pen name was Yusai.

享保(きょうほう)19年11月5日生まれ。丹後(京都府)宮津藩主青山幸秀(よしひで)の7男。叔父青山忠朝(ただとも)の養子となり,宝暦10年丹波篠山(ささやま)藩(兵庫県)藩主青山家2代。藩校振徳堂を創設するなど文武の奨励につとめた。文化13年8月14日死去。83歳。初名は正幸(まさよし)。号は有斎。
