Born on November 5, 1716. The seventh son of Aoyama Yoshihide, lord of Miyazu Domain in Tango (Kyoto Prefecture). He was adopted by his uncle Aoyama Tadatomo, and in 1777 became the 2nd generation lord of the Aoyama clan in Tanba Sasayama Domain (Hyogo Prefecture). He worked to encourage both the arts and martial arts, including founding the domain school Shintokudo. He passed away on August 14, 1816. He was 83 years old.
