International Electrotechnical Commission. An international organization that sets standards in the fields of electrical and electronic technology. Founded in 1906. Comprised of standardization organizations and institutions from each country, Japan joined in 1953. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. ◇From the initials of "International Electrotechnical Commission."
