…It is also called a vibraphone. In 1916, H. Winterhoff of the Leedy Company in the United States noticed that steel bars have a longer reverberation than wooden bars, and invented an instrument in which tuned steel keys were arranged like a xylophone and the amplitude of the vibrations was changed. At the time, it was simply an instrument in which two rows of resonators were arranged under the bars and moved up and down alternately, but it was later improved by J.C. Deagan into the instrument we know today. …
