Vedāṅga (English spelling)

Japanese: Vedāṅga(英語表記)Vedanga
Vedāṅga (English spelling)

…An ancient Indian Brahmanic religious rite manual, translated as “ritual sutra.” After the creation of the Vedic scriptures, six supplementary texts called the Vedāṅga were created as guides for understanding and practicing them. The Kalpa-sūtra, which contains all the rules necessary for carrying out the rituals prescribed in the Vedic scriptures, is one of these, and is considered the most important of the six.

From the Dharma Sutra

...It describes the rights and duties of each of the four classes (varnas) that make up Brahmanism society, as well as the norms of life. It is part of the Kalpa Sutra, one of the six Vedāṅga, which were created as supplementary documents to the Vedas, and is translated as the Vedas. It is the earliest document in India that describes law, but it is not a code of law for practical purposes such as trials, but rather a religious document created by various schools that inherited the Vedas as one of the documents that complement the Vedas.
