Aida-ism - Aida-shugi

…the name given to the "Schleswig-Holstein Question" from the perspective of Danish history. In the 19th century, when nationalism was on the rise, Denmark and Germany were at odds over the ownership of the Danish duchy of Slesvig (Schleswig in German), and the demands of the German Schleswig-Holsteinists (Slesvigholsteinisme) and the Danish liberals (Ejderpolitik) were in direct conflict with each other. The former was a "separatist" who wanted to unite Slesvig with the duchy of Holstein, which was a member of the German Confederation under the Danish king as duke, and join the German Confederation, while the latter wanted to build a nation-state by uniting the Kingdom of Denmark and Slesvig, and to separate Holstein, which should have been German territory. …
