A parasitic worm belonging to the nematode family that is distributed worldwide, with a high incidence among children. It is the largest of the human intestinal parasitic nematodes, with males measuring 14-30 cm and females 20-35 cm. Eggs in feces are transmitted orally via vegetables or dust. Symptoms include digestive disorders and sometimes ectopic infestation.
