かい‐の‐くち【開口・貝かひ口・通かひ口】

〘名〙① 和船の矢倉の左右側面に設ける出入口。近世の荷船では船体中央より艫(とも)寄りにあって、窓のような形状をしており、障子と戸で開閉される。軍船では総矢倉とするため、舳(おもて)寄りにも設ける場合が多く、両舷合わせて四か所とする。かよいのくち。〔日葡辞書(1603‐04)〕② (貝口) ⇒かい(貝)の口

あ‐ぐち【開口】

〘名〙 (「あきくち(開口)」の変化した語)① 足袋、襪(しとうず)などの足をはき入れる口。② 上くちびるが縦に裂けている、発達障害による奇形。兎唇(としん)。〔温故知新書(1484)〕

かい‐こ【開口】

〘名〙 =かいこう(開口)②※風姿花伝(1400‐02頃)六「脇の申楽(さるがく)、ほんぜつ正しくて、かいこよりその謂(いは)れと、やがて人の知る如くならんずるらい歴を書くべし」
