After that, he was recognized by producer Erich Pommer and entered the film industry, becoming a director at Decca in 1919. After the defeat, he attracted worldwide attention with his works such as “Doctor Mabuse” (1922), which was said to be “a record of the era,” “The Nibelungen” (1924), a grandiose film adaptation of a folk legend, and “Metropolis” (1926), which became a science fiction classic by depicting a fantastical future city.
