…British rock group that rose to the pinnacle of youth culture in the 1960s. The group consisted of four members: John Lennon (1940-80), Paul McCartney (1942- ), George Harrison (1943- ), and Ringo Starr (1940- ). Lennon and Harrison usually played guitar, McCartney played bass, and Starr played drums, and in many cases the whole group sang together, with Lennon or McCartney at the center. …
