Yponomeuta

...This is a small family that includes small species with a wingspan of 1-3cm, and over 80 species are known in Japan. Among the representative genus of this family, Yponomeuta , there are species whose larvae build communal nests and live in colonies, hence the name of the family. When the cherry blossom moth, large-headed male moth, and crassulacean moth infest a large number of moths in large numbers, they can cover an entire tree with their nests, leaving it completely bald.
