Østersjøn (English spelling)

…It is divided into the Gulf of Bothnia in the north and the Gulf of Finland in the east at about 60 degrees north latitude. In Scandinavia, it is called the Eastern Sea Østersjø. It is the northern Mediterranean Sea, and was the stage for the ancient Baltic civilization, the Viking eastward expeditions in the Middle Ages, and the trade of the Hanseatic League.
