...When they grow into veliger larvae, they swim out of the exit hole at the tip into the sea. They are distributed from Hokkaido to Kyushu, the Korean peninsula, and China, but have also been introduced to the west coast of North America along with oyster seedlings, where they cause damage known as oyster drill. O. aduncus is similar to this species, but its longitudinal ribs are developed into fin-like shapes.
