Rain factor

...One of the methods devised was to express the climate as a function of several climatic factors, the first of which was the rainfall factor devised by soil scientist R. Lang.

It is also called Lang's rainfall factor. If the annual rainfall is P (mm) and the average temperature obtained by adding up only the monthly average temperatures above 0°C and dividing them by 12 is T , the rainfall factor R is given by R = P / T.
