Ratramnus

...However, this issue was not addressed directly in the ancient and early medieval churches. The 9th century theologian Paschasius Radbertus questioned the first point above and debated with Ratramnus, also of Corby. However, Paschasius Radbertus assumed a complete change of substance, and in that sense he could be considered a forerunner of the doctrine of transubstantiation that later became the doctrine of the Catholic Church.
