...Because their lips and eyes are reddish, they are called Shikuchi, Shukuchi (Osaka, Wakayama, Hiroshima, Okayama, Kumamoto), Sukuchi (Kochi, Wakayama), Hikuchi (Hiroshima), Akame (Ishikawa, Toyama, Hachirogata, Oga, Wakayama, Saga, Genkai, Shimonoseki), Meaka (Wakayama), etc. The specific name haematocheila refers to the red lips, and the English name is also redlip mullet. Although not as common as the mullet, the name of the menada also changes as it grows.
