Riverina

…Together with the Darling River and the Murrumbidgee River, it forms part of the Murray-Darling system (basin area 1,060,000 km2). The Riverina region in the middle reaches is the country's representative agricultural and livestock region. Many irrigation districts have developed due to reservoirs created by the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Development Project, and the areas around Mildura (northwest Victoria) and Renmark (southeast South Australia) are particularly known for fruit cultivation.
