Themes including real-life problems have been increasingly used since Garnett E. Garnett's 1 Cul-de-sac (1937), and were continued by Mayne and J.R. Townsend in the 1960s, and furthermore, adolescent boys' novels were written by JP Walsh and KM Peyton.
