...Daguerreotypes only produce one photograph using one photosensitive plate, but in 1841, the British WHF Talbot invented the negative-positive method, in which a negative image of a photograph was made using silver iodide photosensitive paper, and this negative was then printed onto photosensitive paper to produce a positive image. This method is called the Talbotype or calotype.
