Born on September 10, 1891. He was active as a judo player at Tokyo Higher Normal School. In 1918, he traveled to the United States and studied physical education theory at the University of Chicago. After working as a lecturer at Tokyo Higher Normal School, he became the president of the Manchuria Athletic Association in 1926. As the coach of the Boston Marathon in 1951, he led Tanaka Shigeki to victory. He was the person who named the Heiwadai Stadium in Fukuoka City. He passed away on November 6, 1966.
