The internal organization of each caste is based on patrilineal relationships, and there are many ritual-executing organizations called guthi, which closely link people of the same caste in the same area. In terms of religion, the castes are characterized by a mixture of indigenous beliefs, Buddhism, which was introduced from India long ago and transformed into Newar Buddhism, and Hinduism, and by the fact that they are focused on performing ritual acts and have almost no Buddhist monks who are ordained.
