Located in northern Saitama Prefecture, this is an irrigation canal that draws water from the Arakawa River. It is also called the Rokuseki Irrigation Canal. It is the largest irrigation canal on the Arakawa River, drawing water from Rokuseki between the old Kawamoto Town and the old Hanazono Town (both now part of Fukaya City) and irrigating both the left and right banks. The name Rokuseki comes from the six weirs Nara, Tamai, Oaso, Narita, Misho, and Yoshimi that were built in the early 17th century (during the Keicho era). In 1929 (Showa 4), construction was carried out to combine the six weirs into one in order to improve the irrigation system, and it was completed in 1939. In recent years, the flow rate has been increased by drawing water from the Futase and Tamayodo dams upstream.
