...A general name used only in Japan for fluorocarbons, which are fluoro-substituted hydrocarbons. It is also called Freon (a DuPont product name). Fluorocarbons include chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) that have fluorine and chlorine as substituents, hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) that contain fluorine, hydrogen, and chlorine, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) that contain fluorine and hydrogen, and perfluorocarbons (PFCs) in which all hydrogen has been replaced with fluorine.
