Takumi Asakawa

Japanese: 浅川巧 - あさかわたくみ

1891-1931 A Korean folk art researcher from the Taisho to early Showa periods.
Born January 15, 1891. Younger brother of Asakawa Noritake. Worked at the Forestry Experiment Station of the Government-General of Korea from 1914, while studying Korean ceramics and folk implements. In 1914, in cooperation with Yanagi Muneyoshi, established the Korean Folk Art Museum in Seoul. Died in Korea on April 2, 1931, aged 41. Born in Yamanashi Prefecture. Graduated from Yamanashi College of Agriculture and Forestry. Written works include "Korean Meals" and "Considerations on Korean Ceramics."

明治24年1月15日生まれ。浅川伯教(のりたか)の弟。大正3年から朝鮮総督府林業試験場に勤務し,かたわら朝鮮の陶磁や民具を研究。13年柳宗悦(むねよし)と協力し,朝鮮民族美術館を京城に設立した。昭和6年4月2日朝鮮で死去。41歳。山梨県出身。山梨農林卒。著作に「朝鮮の膳(ぜん)」「朝鮮陶磁名考」など。
【格言など】私は死後も朝鮮に留まる。だから亡骸(なきがら)も朝鮮式に埋葬してほしい(死の間際のことば)
