Dang Tran Con (English)

...A Chinese poem written in the late period of the Le Dynasty in Vietnam and a long poem translated into the Vietnamese language. The Chinese poem was written by Dang Tran Con (鄧陳琨), who was the magistrate of Thanh Oai (Qingwei) County in Ha Dong (He Dong) during the Yongyou (1735-40) and Jingxing (1740-86) eras. It is a long poem with rich intonation and variation, consisting of 476 lines modeled on the long and short lines style of the Yuefu (musical music) performed during the Tang Dynasty. It is a monologue by a young woman who has sent her husband off to the battlefield, complaining of her loneliness at the separation and singing of her heartbreaking feelings of longing for her husband's return. ...
