Cotyaeum

...the agricultural and commercial center of the region. In ancient times it was called Cotyaeum and was also the center of early Christianity. From the 11th century onwards it was invaded and ruled by Turkish tribes and Timur, and during the Ottoman period it was the capital of a sanjak (province).
