Corrasion

Japanese: corrasion
Corrasion

…The soil and sand carried by flowing water usually scrapes or files the surface of the ground in contact with the water more effectively than the water alone. This action is called corrasion or abrasion. Where vortices develop, they create potholes. …

From [Erosion]

[River erosion]
Erosion by flowing water, or rivers, is the most common erosion process in humid regions, resulting in river valleys such as canyons or V-shaped valleys. There are two types of erosion: hydraulic action, in which the water itself cuts the bedrock, creating a pool just below a waterfall; corrasion, in which the river water cuts the riverbed using the gravel it carries as material; and finally, corrosion, in which some rocks dissolve when they come into contact with the river water. Dissolution is most noticeable in limestone regions and in the tropics.
