...In the broad sense, it refers to a form of singing by a group, but in the narrow sense, it refers to a form of singing divided into several parts, especially when each part is sung by several singers. A single part is sung by several singers in unison, each part is sung by one person, called a duet, a form in which a soloist and a chorus interact with each other, called an antiphonal or compound chorus, and a form in which two or more groups interact with each other. Generally, there are children's choirs, male choirs, female choirs, and mixed choirs, and although there are two or more parts, a mixed four-part choir consisting of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass is considered the standard.
