...They have similar body shapes, but differ in body color. They can be distinguished by the fact that the white tilefish Branchiostegus albus (illustration) has a whitish body color, the red tilefish B. japonicus is bright red with a silvery-white triangular spot behind the eye, and the yellow tilefish B. argentatus (illustration) is silvery-white from the eye to the upper jaw. The white tilefish lives at depths of 30 to 100 meters and reaches a total length of 60 cm.
