Bonnet tile

...This is common in areas such as the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, and Poland, where wooden tiles have long been used, and where fired tiles have been used to replace wooden tiles as a fire prevention measure. However, the ridge of the roof cannot be covered with flat tiles alone, so it is covered with strongly curved tiles called bonnet tiles, or the ridge is wrapped in metal sheets such as copper or lead.

In areas where the above wooden tiles were used, especially in places such as coasts where there were strong horizontal winds and rain, wooden tiles were also laid on the walls to provide a weather-resistant wall finish.
