X-ray microscopy

X-ray microscopy
A method of examining the microscopic internal structure of materials using X-rays. It is used in fields such as biology, medicine, and metallurgy.
[X-ray shadow microscopy]
Also called microscopic X-ray imaging or microradiography. This method makes use of the fact that X-ray images of materials show contrast that corresponds to differences in X-ray absorption due to differences in the sample's density and the composition of the material. It does not damage the sample as much as an electron microscope, and allows the observation of living organisms in a state close to that of a living organism. (1) Contact method: The sample is placed in contact with a photosensitive material, and the image is then magnified using an electron microscope or similar.
