Leontiev

A Russian man of letters. He published unusually restorationist essays while working as a diplomat, journalist, and censor. He later converted to Russian Orthodoxy and became a monk. He believed that society would perish due to the homogenization that accompanied the advancement of modern technological civilization, and advocated the strengthening of Byzantine-style despotism. His ideas were highly praised by Tolstoy. His collection of essays includes The East, Russia, and the Slavs (1885-1886).
