The chemical formula is (NH ₄ ) ₃ PO ₄ . It is also called ammonium phosphate tribasic. The trihydrate is the more commonly known form. The trihydrate, (NH ₄ ) ₃ PO ₄ ･3H ₂ O, is a colorless columnar crystal. It loses ammonia easily in air. It is soluble in water. When the aqueous solution is heated, it loses ammonia and produces (NH ₄ )H ₂ PO ₄ . The trihydrate is obtained by adding aqueous ammonia to an aqueous solution of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate and ammonium chloride, sealing it, and cooling it. It is called ammonium phosphate and is widely used as a fertilizer. The hydrogen salts, (NH ₄ ) ₂ HPO ₄ and (NH ₄ )H ₂ PO _4, are sometimes simply called ammonium phosphate.

化学式(NH₄)₃PO₄。第三リン酸アンモニウムともいう。3水和物が普通に知られている。3水和物(NH₄)₃PO₄･3H₂Oは無色柱状晶。空気中でアンモニアを失いやすい。水に可溶。水溶液を熱するとアンモニアを失って(NH₄)H₂PO₄を生成する。リン酸二水素アンモニウムと塩化アンモニウムの水溶液にアンモニア水を加えて密閉し，冷却すると3水和物が得られる。リン安と呼ばれ，肥料として広く用いられる。水素塩(NH₄)₂HPO₄，(NH₄)H₂PO₄を単にリン酸アンモニウムということもある。
