Greening work - Ryokkako

Japanese: 緑化工 - りょっかこう

This refers to a revegetation technique or method that uses plants to cover the ground surface to prevent soil erosion, preserve and improve the environment, improve the quality of the landscape, and contribute to nature conservation. Many of the places where revegetation work is required and carried out are areas where the surface has been bare due to development, disasters, etc. The aim is to quickly and reliably revegetate these areas, and ultimately achieve the desired greenery. Historically, revegetation work has been carried out on coastal sandy areas, followed by mountainsides and embankments, and nowadays it has spread to road slopes, reclaimed land, housing development sites, quarries, etc.

植物を用い地表をおおうことにより，土壌の浸食を防ぎ，環境を保全･改善し，景観の質を高め，さらに自然保護に役だつために行われる緑化技術または工法をいう。緑化工を必要とし，また実施される場所は，開発，災害などにより表面が裸地化した個所が多い。これを早く確実に緑化し，最終的には目標とする緑を完成することが目的である。施工場所は，歴史的にみて海岸砂地が古く，山腹，堤防がこれに続き，現代は道路のり(法)面，埋立地，宅地造成地，採石地などに広がっている。
